The Demeter is the ship that transports Count Dracula from Transylvania to England. The vessel's journey is marked by mysterious events, including the disappearance of the crew and the captain's death. The ship eventually runs aground in Whitby, North Yorkshire with Dracula escaping into the night.

"A great awe came on all as they realised that the ship, as if by a miracle, had found the harbour, unsteered save by the hand of a dead man!"
