Born in Barrow-in-Furness in 1936, Gordon painted in an amateur capacity for many years and studied drawing at Storey’s Institute, Lancaster. After leaving the Royal Air Force, during which time he travelled extensively mainly in the Middle East and Mediterranean countries, he took up painting again. He continually improved his technique and his dedication and hard work were finally rewarded when he turned professional in 1979. Gordon’s distinctive, self-taught style is mostly inspired by the hills, lakes and woodlands of the North of England and Scotland. His work is available in Limited Edition Print and his ever popular snow scenes appear on Christmas cards throughout the world.
