As we bid farewell to summer, we look with welcome anticipation to the warm, familiar comforts of the autumn ahead. Gracefully leading us into this seasonal transition is Tina Spratt’s ‘Morning Light’. Masterfully composed with an arresting array of luxurious textures and radiant light, Tina’s newest masterpiece holds a simultaneous presence and softness not easily rivalled.
After much anticipation, this month the gallery is delighted to open 'Masters of Perspective: Colin Wilson and Tina Spratt', a mixed show of paintings and pastels by still life artist Colin Wilson and figurative artist Tina Spratt. Two exceptional contemporary artists making their mark on their respective genres, Colin and Tina apply their acute observation and insightful precision to reveal new truths and captivate the senses. For those collectors wanting to get the first look at this exciting collection, preview catalogues will be available the opening week of the exhibition upon request.
Some of you may recall earlier this summer when acclaimed contemporary artists Michael John Ashcroft, ROI and David Sawyer, RBA met in York for an afternoon of plein air painting. After adding the finishing touches in his studio, the gallery is thrilled to announce that Michael has now delivered the finished painting. A sensational painting in its own right, the engaging appeal of ‘York Minster’ is further enhanced by its rich backstory. In addition to this collector’s gem, the other plein air paintings delivered by Michael include ‘Gordale Scar’, ‘Wortley Hall, Sheffield’ and ‘One Morning in Staithes’, painted alongside fellow artist David Curtis, RSMA.
September also sees the arrival of new work from Jay Nottingham, Edward Hersey, Terry Grundy, Stephen Hawkins, Gordon Lees and Michael John Ashcroft, ROI. New work is also expected from Sean Durkin and Mike Hall, so be sure to visit our Recently Acquired page to view these and other new, exciting additions to the gallery’s collection.
