Autumn has fallen delightfully upon us, bringing with it the pleasures of crisp morning walks, evenings by the fire and a little indulgence here and there. Exuding luxury and temptation, Colin Wilson’s ‘Figs and Stilton’ is the perfect seasonal accompaniment. With singular attention to detail, Colin presents the riches of honeyed figs, dark wine and marbled, salty stilton within a composition of timeless elegance. The painting is just one of the pieces to feature in ‘Masters of Perspective: Colin Wilson & Tina Spratt', available to view until the 16th of this month.
As the gallery’s own exhibition of Tina Spratt’s work comes to a close on the 16th, there could be no more fitting time to reveal the exciting news that one of Tina’s paintings has been sold at Sotheby’s. ‘Before I Dream’ was specially selected for the renowned auction house’s ‘Contemporary Discoveries’ auction, which brought together diverse artworks of various media, regions and eras from each of Sotheby’s Fine Art Departments. Auctioned alongside work by icons such as Andy Warhol and John McLaughlin, Tina’s work proudly held its own with an impressive hammer price. We hope you will join us in congratulating Tina on this career-defining achievement that cements her place amongst her contemporaries.
It is with great pleasure that we announce that from the 4-6 of November, York Fine Arts will be exhibiting at Manchester Art Fair for the very first time. One of the largest international art fairs outside of London, MAF has built a reputation for championing the power and presence of the art world in the North of England. Drawing from the wealth of talent amongst the artists we represent, York Fine Arts will showcase a carefully curated selection of original paintings and sculpture from our base at Stand 210 at Manchester Central. A limited number of complimentary VIP preview night tickets and general weekend tickets are available from the gallery on a first come, first served basis; so if you would like to make a visit, please do get in touch to receive your exclusive booking code.
Autumn’s arrival also fondly turns our gaze to our annual Edward Hersey and Gordon Lees exhibition, which is now just around the corner. Opening on the 18th of November, the show will run throughout the festive period. One of the most highly anticipated shows of the year, the exhibition will feature an exclusive collection of specially commissioned original paintings and signed limited edition prints from two of the country’s most recognised and highly regarded landscape artists. Preview catalogues will also be available upon request; so be sure to register your interest with a member of gallery staff to get the first look at the collection.
