As the leaves slowly fade from green to gold, October falls upon us, bringing with it a fantastic selection of fine art. Raymond Campbell’s newest painting, ‘A Choice Collection’, leaves us longing for cosy evenings by the fire. Its warm woods and dark tones create an intimate setting, while its robust reds, creamy veined cheeses and leather-bound pages make a promise of indulgences to come.
The start of October also marks the final quarter of the year, and for many, the three-month countdown to Christmas. Commissioned paintings are a lasting, memorable gift and can be arranged for most of the gallery’s artists, including Edward Hersey, Gordon Lees and Raymond Campbell to name just a few. Be it a meaningful landscape or a collection of your favourite wines or whiskies, commissioned paintings can be tailored to suit your individual requirements. We are happy to discuss the commission process and provide a no-obligation quote upon request; but make sure to start the process early to ensure the painting is finished in time for Christmas.
This month the gallery also received work by Edward Hersey, Michael James Smith, Sean Durkin, Jacqueline Gaylard, Alan Stuttle, Michael Simpson and Steve Thoms. To view these and many other new additions to arrive throughout the month ahead, please periodicaly visit our Recently Acquired page.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
Yours faithfully,
The Directors of York Fine Arts.

While many modern landscape artists can sometimes over-romanticise or exaggerate, Smith’s applied restraint allows the country’s natural beauty to speak for itself. Looking closely, each leaf and ripple is painted with an intense observation, an accuracy rarely seen in modern landscape paintings. With such a unique style that appeals to a wide variety of collectors, demand for Michael’s work is

His work was also recently select
