As the cool, crisp autumn days grow shorter, we brightly look forward to the warm, familiar comforts of the season. Behind the scenes, the gallery thrums with an undercurrent of excitement as we make our final preparations for Manchester Art Fair and our final exhibition of the year. Combined with a host of new arrivals and the spirit of festive anticipation slowly filling the air, we simply cannot wait for what the rest of the year has in store.
In just over a week, we will be fully immersed in the electric atmosphere of Manchester Art Fair. Blurring the boundaries between the traditional and the contemporary, the fair boasts a friendly and unpretentious Northern art-buying experience. Once again, the gallery will be proud to display a handpicked selection of work from some of our most loved and collectible artists from Stand 305. We are also happy to offer a limited number of complimentary VIP Preview tickets and unlimited free weekend tickets to our clients wishing to attend. Contact the gallery to receive your free ticket to attend one of the biggest arts events of the season. We hope to see you there!
After a whirlwind year of exhibitions, the gallery finishes its 2024 exhibition programme with ‘Life in the Country’. In a contemporary take on a traditional lifestyle, ‘Life in the Country’ brings together the work of renowned British painters Edward Hersey and Steven Hawkins to celebrate the unique heritage and culture of the British countryside. Presenting a handpicked selection of original paintings and signed limited edition prints, the exhibition pays tribute to the landscapes, sporting and time-honoured traditions so deeply woven into Britain’s longstanding way of life in the country. The exhibition will run throughout December and is the perfect opportunity to soak up York’s festive cheer.
Just in time for Christmas, the gallery is delighted to unveil Edward Hersey’s newest signed limited edition print, ‘Winter Whisper’. With its warm glow and softly smoking chimney, ‘Winter Whisper’ gently invites us into the familiar pleasures of the season. Exclusive to York Fine Arts, the print is published in both a large and small size, each in an edition of 65. Timeless and nostalgic in equal measure, Hersey’s newest print makes an elegant gift for collectors old and new.
As the gallery prepares for Manchester Art Fair, there has been an energising influx of new work arriving at the gallery on a daily basis from artists including Raymond Campbell, Tina Spratt, Rupert Aker, Andrew Grant Kurtis, Terry Evans, Jay Nottingham, Alex Hill, Amanda Jackson, Natalie Stutely, Edward Hersey, Clare Haley, Stephen Park, Ian Rawling, Mike Hall and Julian Mason. With new work also expected from Philip Hearsey, Louise Hepworth-Wood, Carl Whitfield and Michael John Ashcroft expected in the coming days, be sure to check back on our Recently Acquired page as we continue to add to our collection.
