November greets us with a brisk chill, roaring fires and the first taste of the festive season. Edward Hersey’s newest painting warms and enchants in equal measure, its icy blue skies and soft, understated glow perfectly paired in balanced harmony. From the bright, wandering pheasants of the foreground to the softly smoking chimney in the background, ‘A Light Dusting’ is a beautifully composed and classic representation of Hersey’s work, making it a true delight for new and veteran collectors alike.
After much anticipation, this month the gallery is delighted to open the annual Edward Hersey and Gordon Lees exhibition. The exhibition opens on Friday, the 16th of November and will be available to view at our York gallery and online until Sunday, the 16th of December. Considered by many to be the gallery’s most highly anticipated exhibition of the year, an early viewing is highly recommended to avoid disappointment. For collectors eager to view the collection before its official opening, preview catalogues will also be available upon request; so do register your interest if you would like to receive this exclusive first look.
This month also sees the arrival of work by Edward Hersey, Daniel Van der Putten, Terence Clarke, Stephen Hawkins, Raymond Campbell, Michael James Smith, Sean Durkin, Andrew Grant Kurtis, Alex Hill, Jay Nottingham, Stephen Park, Ken Hammond, Natalie Stutely, Suzie Emery and Terry Grundy. Do visit at our Recently Acquired page to view all of these new additions—and perhaps even get a few ideas for Christmas as well.
We wish you the best, and look forward to welcoming you to our galleries soon.
