November greets us with colder evenings, flickering fires and the first taste of the festive season. Stephen Hawkins’ newest painting seems an early Christmas present, its calming, subdued tones perfectly accentuated by soft rays of light as they break through the trees. Beneath the frost-covered branches, the shooting party pauses for only a moment, their warm breath a visible contrast to the brisk chill of the early morning. Gracefully capturing the charm of traditional country life, 'Early Morning Drive' is an equisite representation of Hawkins' signature work.
After much anticipation, the gallery is delighted to open the annual Edward Hersey and Gordon Lees exhibition later this month. The exhibition opens on Friday, the 17th of November and will be available to view at the gallery and online until Sunday, the 10th of December. For those eager for a first look, the gallery will open late from 6-8pm on Thursday the 17th. Considered by many to be the gallery’s exhibition of the year, it comes as no surprise that an early viewing is highly recommended.
In celebration of the exhibition, the gallery will also be releasing two new and exclusive signed limited edition prints by Edward Hersey: ‘Farmyard Corner’ and ‘View Over the Yorkshire Dales’. The editions are limited to 65, and will be officially released at the exhibition; but orders are now being taken, so be sure to place yours early to avoid disappointment.
This month also sees the arrival of work by Gordon Lees, Raymond Campbell, Amanda Jackson, Andrew Grant Kurtis, Suzie Emery, Terry Evans, Alex Hill, Richard Telford, Wayne Westwood and Stephen Park. In addition to these new arrivals, four new paintings by Michael James Smith will also be arriving shortly. Do take a look at our Recently Acquired page to view all of these new additions—and perhaps even get a few ideas for Christmas as well.
We wish you the best, and look forward to welcoming you to our galleries soon.
Yours faithfully,
The Directors at York Fine Arts
Twelve original paintings by Amanda Jackson are available for purchase at our Yorkshire galleries.
