As spring continues to bloom, the gallery delights in exciting news and a fresh collection of seasonal fine art. Bursting forth in a blaze of pattern and colour is the magnificent ‘Orange and Spring Tulips’, an invigorating new painting from one of the gallery’s newest artists, Sally Anne Fitter. With a keen eye for colour and a background in textile design, Sally creates imaginative still life compositions that transform ordinary, familiar objects into exciting emotional gateways. Full of joy and exuberance, her paintings inspire an instant feeling of happiness. The gallery has received three of Sally’s paintings; so do take a moment to view these new additions.
In addition to Sally’s work, this month the gallery is also pleased to welcome the work of contemporary sculptor Philip Hearsey. Specialising in sandcasted bronze sculpture, Philip creates sculptures that engage the natural qualities of bronze as a noble material in its own right. Carefully finishing each piece by hand, no two sculptures—even when from the same pattern—are the exactly alike. Contemporary yet refreshingly timeless, Philip’s sculptures make for singular additions to any collection. Do visit his artist page to view his new work and find out more about his process.
In other exciting news, the gallery is thrilled to announce that British artist David Sawyer RBA recently accompanied Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall on their Spring Tour of the Caribbean as official tour artist. As a part of this esteemed role, David travelled to Barbados, Cuba and Cayman Islands to produce a body of work inspired by the sights and culture of the Caribbean. You can find out more about his visit and the great honour of being selected as an official tour artist here.
In addition to the work by Sally Anne Fitter and Philip Hearsey, this month the gallery has also received a new collection of paintings by artists including Amanda Jackson, Alex Hill, Stephen Hawkins, Raymond Campbell and Natalie Stutely. Be sure to visit our Recently Acquired page to see these and other new work due to arrive throughout the month ahead.
We wish you the best, and look forward to welcoming you to our galleries soon.
