Spring has arrived with a flourish, bringing with it exciting news and new beginnings. After much anticipation, York Fine Arts has officially opened the doors of our Harrogate branch at 21 Montpellier Parade. The Harrogate branch will offer a selection of work by a some of the gallery’s most popular artists, as well our exclusive collection of signed limited edition prints. The gallery is open from Monday to Saturday between 10:00am and 5:30pm, so do come and visit us at this spectacular new space in the heart of Harrogate.
May has also seen the arrival of a magnificent collection of fine art. Daniel Van der Putten’s ‘Farmyard Corner’ is a positively breath-taking piece to behold, its vibrant colours and tapestry of textures expertly woven throughout the painting. In addition to Daniel’s new paintings, the gallery has also received paintings by Raymond Campbell, Michael James Smith, Edward Hersey, Gordon Lees, Carl Whitfield, Terry Evans, Sean Durkin, Amanda Jackson and Richard Telford. Take a look at our Recently Acquired page to see for yourself these fantastic new additions to the gallery’s collection.
For those who have not had the opportunity to view the gallery’s recently opened Raymond Campbell exhibition, it is not yet too late. The exhibition features the gallery’s largest collection of Campbell’s work to date and includes two specially commissioned pieces: the lusciously indulgent ‘A Special Occasion’ and the endlessly intriguing vanitas painting ‘Futility of Pleasure’. The exhibition runs until Sunday, the 14th of May and is also available to view online.
We wish you the best, and look forward to welcoming you to our galleries soon.
Yours faithfully,
The Directors at York Fine Arts
Michael’s work is truthful, painted with astounding precision and clarity. While many modern landscape artists can sometimes over-romanticise or exaggerate, Smith’s applied restraint allows the country’s natural beauty to speak for itself. With such a unique style that appeals to a wide variety of collectors, demand for Michael’s work is positively insatiable.
Seven original paintings are available for purchase.
As a highly regarded British still life artist, Raymond Campbell is most recognised for his curious paraphernalia arrangements, reminiscent of the 17th Century Dutch painters. These unique tableaux can be identified by their detailed precision and classically “Campbell-esque” contents including vintage wine bottles and sepia photographs.
