In just a few short days, the gallery’s second annual Sean Durkin exhibition opens, with an exciting opportunity to meet Sean on Saturday, 10 June. With a spectacular collection of over eighteen original paintings in Sean’s much-loved ‘matchstick’ style, the exhibition presents a cornucopia of delight for collectors. Preview catalogues will be released next week, with artwork available to purchase upon receipt of the catalogue; so if you haven’t already, do register your interest to receive the first look at the show.
In other exciting news, the gallery is positively delighted to congratulate pastel artist Ian Rawling on his recent win at the Pastel Society Annual Exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London. Surrounded by family and friends, Pastel Society member Ian was awarded the Schmincke Award for his pastel, ‘Ovaltine Van’. The award was presented by renowned curator and broadcaster Katherine Soriano, who will be familiar to many for her role as a presenter on Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year and Landscape Artist of the Year. We could not be happier for Ian on achieving this well-deserved honour! You can view Ian's available work on our website here.
As summer swiftly approaches, the opening of our annual Clare Haley exhibition becomes increasingly visible on the horizon. One of the gallery’s most popular and highly anticipated shows of the year, ‘Clare Haley: Light of Yorkshire’ presents a fantastically wild and atmospheric collection of original paintings that explore the dynamic relationship between light, landscape and the elements. Bringing together Clare’s largest single body of work for the year, Clare’s annual solo show is understandably a firm fixture on the calendars of collectors around the world. With pieces known to sell within a number of minutes, a preview catalogue is a must for those seeking the first glimpse of the collection. Get in touch with the gallery to register your interest in receiving this first look.
Alongside our exhibitions, the gallery continues to receive an influx of new work day by day. In addition to the paintings from Sean Durkin, this month the gallery has also welcomed work from Edward Hersey, Stephen Park, Raymond Campbell, Alex Hill, Stephen Hawkins, Steve Thoms, Alan Smith and Amanda Jackson. View our Recently Acquired page to view these, and any other new work to arrive throughout the course of the month ahead.
We hope you will enjoy our June newsletter. As ever, we thank you for your patronage and look forward to welcoming you to the gallery soon.
An artist of natural ability, Steve Thoms has developed his own style with great finesse. Using relatively simple subjects and ideas, Steve applies his unique style to create stunning oil paintings that encapsulate the true ambience of the landscape in a dramatic way.
