Awash with dazzling colour and blooming vistas, summer is at last upon us and with it, a promising sense of rejuvenation. Between new and returning exhibitions, the welcoming of a bold new artist and a trove of recently acquired work, we warmly invite you to explore all this month has in store.
With the last remaining days of 'Ian Rawling: Familiar and Found' fast approaching, don't miss the opportunity to view this extraodianry collection of original pastels, located on the second floor of the gallery. The show offers a hand selected curation of Ian’s award-winning work, spotlighting the overlooked beauty of everyday objects and bringing them to our attention with pristine, photorealistic detail. The exhibition also features many of the items that inspired the pieces on display, which are gifted to collectors of the related artwork.
This month, it is our pleasure to welcome the much-loved and highly collectible York artist, Gerard Hobson. A favourite among the bustling printmaking scene in York, Gerard’s designs have captured the eye of admirers worldwide. Inspired by British wildlife, Gerard’s distinct compositions and dynamic use of colour evince a mastery of his craft, making for a striking addition to any fine art collection.
We are also thrilled to announce Yorkshire landscape artist Clare Haley’s ninth annual solo show, Clare Haley: 'Light of Yorkshire'. A true highlight of the gallery’s exhibition calendar, we invite you once more to lose yourself in the raw, dramatic beauty of Clare’s wild panoramas. From rolling, verdant dales to dark, ominous skies, Clare’s paintings weave a narrative of the changeable northern landscape, beguiling collectors from the earliest days of her career. The show will feature an exclusive collection or original paintings by Clare and will open on Thursday the 1st of August. An early viewing is recommended to avoid disappointment, with preview catalogues available upon request.
