With a blaze of summer sunshine, this month sees the arrival of a bright and revitalizing selection of fine art. Among them, Clare Haley’s scintillating landscape, ‘In the Light of the Morning Sun’. Beneath a thunderous, crackling sky the verdant moorland is a golden ocean, rippling and undulating in a spectacular show of nature’s awesome power. Bridging the gap between realism and abstraction, Clare’s landscape is at once dreamlike, yet will hold special meaning for anyone who has walked Yorkshire’s wild terrain.
It is with great delight this month, that we open our sixth annual ‘Clare Haley: Light of Yorkshire’ exhibition. From rolling dales to ominous skies, Clare weaves a narrative of the changeable northern landscape as it responds to light and the elements. An exhibition not to be missed, the show opens at our York gallery on Friday the 30th July and runs until Sunday, the 22nd of August 2021. Preview catalogues will also be available upon request; so do register your interest with a member of our gallery staff if you have not done so already.
To coincide with the opening of the exhibition, this year the gallery is overjoyed to once more be hosting a ‘Meet the Artist’ event with Clare on Saturday the 31st of July, from 12:00pm-2:00pm. Visitors will have the chance to meet Clare and discuss the exhibition, her work, her inspiration and her life as a professional artist. While there is no need to RSVP, we would highly encourage collectors to mark their calendars early so as not to miss this incredibly special opportunity.
Finally, this month the gallery has received new work by Jay Nottingham, Alex Hill, Terry Evans, Raymond Campbell, Gordon Lees, Richard Telford, Paul Wilson, Andrew Grant Kurtis and Terry Grundy. Be sure to check our Recently Acquired page throughout the month to ensure you have the first look at these exciting new arrivals.
We wish you the best and look forward to welcoming you to our galleries soon.
