As we take our first steps into 2022, we brightly look forward to fresh horizons, new beginnings, and of course, another year of exciting and exceptional fine art. The arrival of Terry Evans’ newest painting is perfectly timed, its tranquil atmosphere and cool, calming palette providing a luxurious moment in which to pause and reset after a bustling festive period. Wild yet achingly familiar, ‘Winter Woodland’ captures the softer side of the season and brings its organic wonder delightfully within reach.
Terry’s new painting is just one of the pieces featured in our upcoming Winter Exhibition, which opens on the 14th of this month. Bringing together an enchanting and revitalising collection of original paintings and sculpture from some of the gallery’s favourite artists, the Winter Exhibition highlights the natural splendour of the season and provides a swift, serene solace in which to take shelter. The exhibition runs at our York gallery until Monday, the 28th of February and will also be available to view online.
In addition to new work for the Winter Exhibition, the gallery has also received an exciting collection of new paintings from artists including Colin Wilson, Amanda Jackson, Stuart Herod, Jay Nottingham, Gordon Lees, Edward Hersey, Natalie Stutely, Alex Hill, Terry Evans and Raymond Campbell, with new work from Sean Durkin due to arrive shortly. Be sure to check our ‘Recently Acquired’ page or register your specific interests with a member of the York Fine Arts team to have the first look at our newest acquisitions.
While our York gallery remains open seven days a week from 10:00am-5:00pm, our Harrogate branch is now closed for the winter holiday. However, we are still available for both private appointments in-branch and home viewings in the comfort and convenience of home. If you would like to make an appointment, please contact a member of our friendly and accommodating staff or visit our York gallery, where we will be more than happy to help.
Finally, we would like to take a moment to express our sincere gratitude for your custom this past year. Your continued patronage of the arts, even in the face of tumultuous times, has helped to support some of the very best artists practicing today and will keep the time-honoured tradition of fine art preserved and celebrated for generations to come. So on behalf of ourselves and the artists we represent, we offer our heartfelt thanks.
We send our very best wishes for a happy and prosperous 2022 and look forward to welcoming you to our galleries soon.
