- Greeted by blue skies and brighter mornings, we delightfully welcome February and the softer side of winter. This month brings announcements of our first exhibition of the year, award winning artists and a first taste of an exciting new chapter for the gallery’s contemporary collection. Refreshed by winter’s tranquillity and revitalised by the bounty of fine art that surrounds us, we could not be more excited to share these updates with you all and continue on our blazing path ahead.
From sunrise to sunset, winter to spring, continuous cycles of change and transformation pulse through the natural world. A celebration of this dynamic state of being, the gallery’s first exhibition of the year, 'Rhythms of the Landscape' brings together a mixed selection of work that highlights the phases, growth and renewal of a world in perpetual motion. Featuring original paintings and sculpture from artists including Andrew Grant Kurtis, Philip Hearsey and Terry Evans, the exhibition explores the subtle rhythms that govern the land, providing a new perspective and deeper connection to the landscape. The exhibition opens on Friday, 14 February and runs until Sunday, 23 March.
We are also delighted to congratulate contemporary pastel artist Ian Rawling on his selection for the UART Award at the Pastel Society annual exhibition 2025 at the Mall Galleries, London. A member of the Pastel Society since 2021, Ian’s work has been admired and awarded year after year, including the Caran d’Ache Award in 2024, the Schmincke Prize in 2023 and the Visitor’s Choice Award in both 2018 and 2019. Consistently capturing the attention and admiration of colleagues and collectors alike, Ian’s work transforms everyday subjects into extraordinary observations.
This month also brings exciting news of renovation here at the gallery. Ever hard at work behind the scenes and keen to embrace new opportunities. evolving and reconceptualising our contemporary floor has long been a dream of the team. So after a bit of a glow up, we can’t wait to open our doors to this new chapter for both our collection and our clients. Watch this space!
After a flurry of recent arrivals, we take a moment to stop and savour the feast before our eyes. From collectible favourites by Michael John Ashcroft, ROI and Sean Durkin to the statement sculptures of Philip Hearsey, the gallery’s collection sings of quality, tradition and craftsmanship. With new work expected in the coming weeks from artists including Colin Wilson, Julian Mason, Andrew Grant Kurtis, Carl Whitfield and Raymond Campbell, do remember to keep an eye on our Recently Acquired page to see these and any other new additions to our standout collection.
We hope you will enjoy our February Newsletter. As ever, we thank you for your patronage and look forward to welcoming you to the gallery soon.
