As the evenings draw in and the lights go up, we send our warmest greetings for the upcoming Christmas season. Perfectly capturing the essence of this special time of year, Edward Hersey’s delicately realised 'Evening Glow' is a luminous example of Hersey’s internationally celebrated snow scenes. With its softly smoking chimney and warm, golden hues, Hersey’s newest painting is guaranteed to add elegant comfort and character to any room in which it hangs.
For those looking to further immerse themselves in the work of Edward Hersey, as well as the acclaimed artist Gordon Lees, there is still time to view the gallery’s annual exhibition. The exhibition presents an exclusive collection of work from these two leading artists, and is truly a show not to be missed. The exhibition runs until Sunday, the 10th of December, so do visit our York gallery or view the exhibition online to enjoy this outstanding selection.
We are also happy to announce that our Harrogate gallery will be participating in the Montpellier Quarter’s Late-Night Shopping Event and Street Party on the 14th of December. On the Thursday evening from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, the gallery will be hosting a wine and cheese tasting inspired by the work of leading British still life artist Raymond Campbell. In partnership with our Montpellier Quarter neighbours, the gallery will furthermore be hosting a charity raffle on the evening in support of B-eat, the UK’s leading charity for eating disorders. Participants will have the opportunity to win a custom wine and cheese basket, which also includes a York Fine Arts gift voucher, so please do contact a member of gallery staff for more details.
This month the gallery also received a variety of work from Raymond Campbell, Andrew Grant Kurtis, Terry Evans, Amanda Jackson, Richard Telford, Alex Hill, Michael John Ashcroft, Sean Durkin, Jay Nottingham and Juriy Ohremovich. We have selected a wonderful range of pieces for the Christmas season, so be sure to visit our Recently Acquired page to discover the next masterpiece for your own collection, or perhaps a gift for a loved one sure to bring a lifetime of enjoyment.
Finally, if you are hoping for deliveries in time for Christmas, the last day for domestically shipped orders from both York Fine Arts and our London dealership, The Colomb Art Gallery, will be Tuesday the 19th of December. The last day for international orders will be Friday, the 15th of December. For those wishing to collect directly from the gallery, you may purchase or collect artwork at any time before Sunday the 24th of December at noon.
We wish you all the best this Christmas, and look forward to welcoming you to our galleries soon.
Yours faithfully,
The Directors at York Fine Arts.
