With the warmth of summer proving somewhat evasive this year, we find ourselves more grateful than ever for the dependable pleasures of fine art. Dianne Flynn’s newest paintings have provided a welcome escape into the soft sands and sun-soaked days of summers gone by, melting away even the stormiest of skies. Alongside our spectacular collection of new arrivals and the thrill of our ongoing Clare Haley exhibition, there is much to be excited about here at York Fine Arts.
After a fantastic opening, Clare’s eighth annual solo exhibition continues to run here at the gallery until Sunday, 20 August. For collectors old and new, the exhibition presents the rare opportunity to view an impressive spectrum of Clare’s work in a single setting. The beckoning wilds of the northern landscape await—all that remains is to roam.
Eagle-eyed collectors may have seen that Yorkshire artist Clare Haley has been featured in the September issue of Living North Magazine. In this double page feature, Clare talks about her work, her inspiration and how her career has evolved over the years. The issue is available on stands now, so make sure to snap up your copy before they’re gone.
This month the gallery is thrilled to welcome the work of New Zealand artist Nell Crossett to the gallery. A self-taught artist with a passion for aquatic life and the waters below, Nell enjoys painting fish and other marine life in their natural environment. Organically calming yet full of bold pattern and energy, Nell’s paintings are a harmonious balance of colour and composition.
With recent arrivals from Dianne Flynn, David Sawyer RBA, Carl Whitfield, Terence Clarke, Colin Wilson, Richard Telford, Stephen Park, Jay Nottingham, Raymond Campbell, Andrew Grant Kurtis and Nell Crossett, the gallery is delightfully full to the brim with a host of new artwork to explore. Included in our latest additions is David Sawyer RBA’s ‘Spring Morning, York Minster and Oratory’, which is the finished result of his plein air painting afternoon in York last spring. Visit our Recently Acquired page to take a closer look at this and the other new paintings recently added to our collection.
As ever, we thank you for your patronage and look forward to welcoming you to the gallery soon.
