From the height of summer, we send our most cheerful greetings to you all. Warm, bright and hazy, Michael John Ashcroft’s ‘A Venice Canal’ is the perfect accompaniment to the season. A magnificent plein air triumph, Michael’s newest painting masterfully displays his natural eye for both contrast and architectural detail. Furthermore, as Michael painted this piece on a painting trip with the increasingly collectible painting group known as the ‘Northern Boys’, ‘A Venice Canal’ boasts the sort of kudos of which contemporary collectors dream.
After a fantastic opening and an exciting visit from Clare herself, our York gallery’s newest exhibition, ‘Clare Haley: Light of Yorkshire’, continues to shine. Timeless and atmospheric with an invigorating sense of drama, Clare’s newest collection of work is nothing short of pure delight. The show runs until Sunday, the 18th of August; so if you have not had the chance to see the exhibition, there is still time yet. For those unable to make a visit to the gallery, the collection is also available to view online.
Not to be outdone, this month our Harrogate gallery plays host to our Summer Exhibition. A mixed show of work by David Sawyer RBA, Mike Hall, Philip Hearsey, Julian Mason and Michael John Ashcroft MAFA, the exhibition combines a vibrant collection of paintings and sculpture that evoke the excitement and experience of summer. The exhibition will be on display until Sunday, the 25th of August; so do make a visit to our Harrogate gallery to view the gallery’s newest show.
In addition to the paintings by Michael John Ashcroft and Clare Haley, this month the gallery also acquired new work by Joseph Hayton, Alex Hill, Raymond Campbell, Juriy Ohremovich, Jacqueline Gaylard, Tina Spratt and Javier Mulio. Visit our Recently Acquired page to view these newest additions to the gallery’s collection; and be sure to check back over the course of the month to be the first to spot any new arrivals, including new paintings by Daniel Van der Putten.
We wish you the best and look forward to welcoming you to our galleries soon.
