As blue skies and bright blooms abound, we cheerfully embrace the fresh spirit of spring and the enlivened sense of vitality it brings to the gallery. April is already proving to be an exciting month here at York Fine Arts, with two exhibitions taking place amongst the invigorating influx of new artwork. With its sweeping views and dramatically endless skyline, Julian Mason’s newest painting, ‘Moorland Hues’, perfectly captures spring’s unique aura of hope and discovery—and is just one of the many new arrivals to have captured our hearts and imagination.
Our newest exhibition, 'Horizons' is now in full swing and bringing a welcome burst of energy to our beloved gallery walls. Showcasing a sophisticated collection of work from acclaimed British landscape artists Julian Mason, Michael John Ashcroft, ROI and David Sawyer, RBA, the exhibition is a triumph of authenticity and perspective. The show runs until the 16th of April, so if you haven’t had the chance already, be sure to stop by the gallery to see this stunning collection in its full splendour.
After the close of ‘Horizons’, the gallery’s annual exhibition programme blazes on, with ‘Painting the Light’ opening at the end of the month. Bringing together the work of renowned contemporary artists Terence Clarke and Mike Hall, ‘Painting the Light’ will be a dazzling celebration of contrast, colour and saturation. Through the delightfully chromatic and calculated compositions of these two artists, the pleasures of the everyday experience are delightfully revealed.
In stark contrast to the joys of our newest exhibitions, it is with great sadness that the gallery shares the news of landscape artist Terry Grundy’s recent passing. An extraordinary artist who followed his heart’s passion for fine art, Terry faithfully committed himself to capturing the beauty of the English countryside for all to enjoy. With a longstanding career and a loyal following, the legacy Terry leaves behind in the tradition of contemporary British landscape painting will be a lasting one.
This month the gallery has welcomed new paintings from Alex Hill, Stephen Hawkins, Terry Evans, Natalie Stutely, Alan Smith, Jay Nottingham, Colin Wilson, Mike Hall and Julian Mason. From collectible favourites to stand-out statement pieces, our newest collection showcases a range of work bound to tempt even the most discerning of collectors. Have a look at our Recently Acquired page to see these and any other new additions to arrive over the course of the month.
As ever, we thank you for your patronage and look forward to welcoming you to the gallery soon.
