The arrival of spring has been heralded with sunshine, warmth and a magnificent accession of new work. British Artist Raymond Campbell's 'Fine Pairings'(pictured left) took a particular hold on our attention; with plump fruits and creamy, veined cheeses, the painting positively tantalises the senses. The reflection of the studio window and the disturbed dust on the bottles further demonstrate Raymond's impeccable attention to detail that never ceases to impress.
After much anticipation, the gallery is excited to announce the opening of our newly expanded contemporary gallery. The renovations to the second floor have doubled the available space, propelling the further development and growth of the gallery’s contemporary collection. We are exceedingly excited to showcase a larger selection of contemporary pieces and continue to expand the variety of work available at York Fine Arts.
However, we are also saddened to report that British artist Ken McKie has recently passed away. Ken's work brought attention to the beauty of everyday objects in our lives, and we are grateful he graciously shared his talent with so many.
This month the gallery also received new work by Edward Hersey, Gordon Lees, Jay Nottingham, Terry Evans, Steve Thoms, Amanda Jackson and Stephen Hawkins. There is a large selection available, so do take a look at our Recently Acquired page to view the new collection.
